HELP US MAKE A NEW MOVIE!
Well folks, the time has come.
I am beyond excited to announce that I will be teaming up with producers Brian Keene, Samantha Kolesnik, and Nathan Ludwig to make my 2nd feature length film, Dead Format! Based on the fan favorite short story from my collection, Please Don’t Tap on The Glass. Dead Format is a story about nostalgia, death, and video stores.
Its been 7 years since I directed I’m Dreaming of a White Doomsday, and all that time, I’ve been waiting to find a story that I felt passionately enough about to go through the absolutely beautiful hell of making another indie film. Dead Format is that story. It is achingly personal, introspective, and dark, but it also has a little streak of my humor too. Its bittersweet and gory as hell, and I think you’re going to love it.
The scope of this thing is massive and it is by far the biggest project any of us have ever attempted. We literally cannot make it happen without your help. Please donate to the IndieGoGo campaign and share the link everywhere you can.
As of this (admittedly very late update, we are less than 2 weeks into the campaign and are already over 50% funded. We have raised $30, 543 of our $60,000 goal, but we need YOUR help to get the rest of the way to the finish line! Please check out the awesome perks we have and help us get this movie made! Here is a video update I recorded after our incredible first day of launching the campaign.
The bulk of the updates have been happening on our Twitter page and my Facebook, but we did a couple milestone rewards for you beautiful people who have supported the film, and I would like to post them here you to see.
First we have our $23,000 milestone reward: The Video Dead. The first real short film I ever made. Shot on my trusty VHS camcorder at the tender age of 13.
Our second reward, the 50% milestone, is a video I shot with my same childhood VHS camcorder, reading The Blob, a short story I wrote in the 4th grade about the blob coming out of the TV and killing my family.
Both of these videos are very thematically related to Dead Format and show my bizarre childhood obsession with my beloved horror movie tapes coming to life.
We cannot make this movie without your help. Check out the IndieGoGo, donate, and help us beat the strangulating tendrils of the algorithm by sharing it far and wide.
It’s been a long time, but we’re back, and it feels fucking wonderful.
Keep it reel,
-Mike Lombardo
